Past Implementation Science Conferences​

NISA 2015 – Reiz Continental hotel, Abuja

The first Nigeria Implementation Science Alliance Conference took place Abuja in 2015! The conference focused on Prevention of Mother to Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT).

 

The conference identified barriers and research gaps related to PMTCT and potential strategies and interventions that could address PMTCT challenges. It was the first step to invest in the next generation of implementation science, policy makers, and implementation researchers.

NISA 2016 – Reiz Continental hotel, Abuja

NISA 2016 was held in Abuja and focused on HIV/AIDS and related infections: HIV, adolescents health, STI & Hepatitis B. Over 145 delegates participated in NISA 2016.

NISA was used to utilize innovative platforms that catalyzed collaboration, enhance communication between different, stakeholders, and promote the uptake of evidence-based interventions in improving healthcare delivery.

NISA 2017 – Rockview hotel, Abuja

In September 2017, the third NISA scientific conference was held in Abuja, Nigeria. The conference focused on identifying ways to promote implementation research by building research capacity through training.

During the conference, researchers, policy makers, and public health program implementers from Nigeria examined key challenges facing the country in the area of locally available, competent research personnel and possible strategies to bridge existing gaps.

Over 193 delegates participated in the NISA 2017 and over 68 abstracts was submitted.

NISA 2018 – NAF Conference Centre & Suites, Abuja

NISA 2018 was held in Abuja, focused on Evidence-Based approach to enhance quality of healthcare.

Focus groups explored the perceptions of Nigerian HIV/AIDS researchers and practitioners regarding HIV/AIDS stigma and the barriers to enacting evidence-based stigma interventions in Nigeria. There were over 231 participants from across Nigeria that attended NISA 2018.

NISA 2019 – Sheraton Hotel, Abuja

NISA’s 5th annual conference in 2019 took place in Abuja, focusing on Achieving Impact Through Implementation Research. The conference was structured around building implementation research team, women in implementation research, mentoring and research grant opportunities along with many other topics related to implementation science.

Participant’s that attended represented government sectors, universities, and implementing organizations.
